INDEX: Design to Improve Life® would like to contribute to meeting the global challenge of providing the world with better access to basic sanitation, and therefore, in collaboration with World Toilet Organization and the Technical University of Denmark, we invited designers to participate in our Toilet and Sanitation Designlab on September 6, 2010.
Designing Water's Future: INDEX: | AIGA ASPEN DESIGN CHALLENGE In May 2008, INDEX: and AIGA posed a challenge to students around the world, asking them to address the world’s fresh water crisis. This book presents the winner and the finalists of the first INDEX: | AIGA ASPEN DESIGN CHALLENGE.
Said about globalization: "Facebook is a tool for communication where 90 percent of your friends live within five miles." Christian Madsbjerg
Said about green consumption: "We have a genuine need for consumption: Pleasure, beauty and NO will not solve the problem. People don't want to get out of cars. The car is not a failure, but rather a success as a design. The damage on the environment is the real failure." Bruce Mau
Said about design and technology: "You need to specialize. Choose for instance to be the best knitter in the world. It may be a very tiny field, but it's the only way to become very good. So my credo: Don't try to improve only the fields in which you are good, but become better at what you are already good at. I never hire a generalist." Hella Jongerius
